She Says… First Ultrasound!

Well, today arrived. FINALLY. I thought it might never come. For those of you who were anxious about it with me, I’ll cut to the chase.

Guess what we saw?

ONE HEALTHY BABY. With a little, tiny beating heart. The tech said it looked perfectly healthy. Good size, strong heartbeat (139bpm… apparently anything above 100 is great). Measuring 6 weeks and 3 days (which is pretty close to what I assumed based on my ovulation date).

Wow. It’s… incredible.

  16. I’m officially not allowed to watch anymore of your videos at work. I have tears streaming down my face. My lil one looked like a real baby at my 10 week u/s and then more so at my 13 week u/s. Your 20 week one will blow your mind. How exciting!!!!

  17. Fantastic! I had a very similar reaction my first u/s. πŸ™‚ One healthy heartbeat is awesome! I’m sure you’re walking on air today.

  18. I remember that first ultrasound so well (probably because it was only in Sept LOL), I asked the exact same thing about the heartbeat! That should be the first thing they start out with! Congratulations! The next ultrasound is even more amazing as it actually looks like a baby! We are waiting on the anatomy scan on Dec 29th and are so excited! Each little milestone is worth celebrating…enjoy yourselves! You’re having a baby!

  19. Girl, I stumbled upon your blog this afternoon for the very first time; I have spent literally the last hour reading your posts dating back to mid-October. First of all, the two videos (from today and the day of your + HPT), had me BAWLING! I’m been ttc off & on for 10 years now (PCOS/IR). I can only imagine what it feels like to experience what you have!!!! I have added you to my blogroll, I will look forward to reading more about your journey! I especially like that your DH posts, too. What a great guy you have! Congratulations!!!!

  20. So happy and relieved! Yesterday we watched a movie with an ultrasound in it (pretty sure what they showed was for a pregnancy farther along than the character was supposed to be), and I was very excited thinking about your ultrasound today!

  21. goodness you made me cry! so happy!!!

  22. how wonderful! Congratulations!

  23. Awwwwww, wonderful news! πŸ™‚

  24. Your video made me smile today! My hubby and I have been trying on our own to get pregnant for 15 months. We’re giving it one more month and then heading to a specialist. I hope some day to have similar videos like you!

  35. I’m so happy that your little piccolini is doing well! And he or she has made his or her big debut on youtube already πŸ™‚

  36. Awwww… that was sweet πŸ™‚

  37. How wonderful to be able to see your little miracle for the first time. And even better that they were able to detect the heartbeat already. Get lots of rest this first trimester – you are growing a baby!

  38. romancingthestone

You make me cry happy tears. Hope we can meet in Beantown one day! Bast of luck to you guys! Shell http://romancingthestone.wordpress.com

  39. Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments. Little piccolini is so lucky to have so many people rooting for him/her already!

The ultrasound was SUCH an amazing experience. Although it only lasted for a few minutes, it convinced me that I REALLY DO HAVE A BABY GROWING IN THERE, and the chances of something happening at this point are very small. The tears came like a flood when the ultrasound tech said she could see the heartbeat; apparently I had a lot of pent up stress about that!

So, sorry to those who I made cry at work (again!), but I just can’t help it πŸ™‚ At least they are happy tears!

  40. Yay! Beautiful news. I will be coming back to watch these videos once I (please Lord!) get pregnant. (An un-supressable superstitious piece of me doesn’t want to get ahead of myself by inundating myself with preggo stuff…kinda like not peeking at bridal mags before getting engaged.) For now, know I am rooting for you guys with all of my heart. πŸ™‚

  41. yours is a beauty too! so many congratulations!!! love your videos.

  42. It’s such a beautiful thing to see a mother cry tears of joy! It’s completely understandable why you were so nervous going in. I’m just so happy for both you and your hubby that everything is going super with the baby!

I found out on the weekend that my hubs and I are expecting a baby as well, so your video brought on the happy tears for me. Can’t wait to do my first ultrasound! May you continue your healthy baby journey Kate! I always look forward to reading what else you have to say πŸ™‚

  43. Wow–cool vid! My first ultrasound wasn’t until about 12 weeks so it was a big baby by then!
We are due in April! πŸ™‚

  44. Oh my, I just cried my eyes out watching your video. Thank you for sharing it. πŸ™‚
