Good news… I’m not sick! I seem to have escaped whatever sickness was coming on by loading up on vitamin C and drinking lots of water. I have a little scratchy throat and a stuffy nose, but I’m beginning to think it may be allergies I’m developing during pregnancy instead of a cold/flu/virus. Yay
We had a busy weekend going to our 3rd wedding of the season. I’ll admit, I’m beginning to feel a bit… big. My feet swell after I stand for awhile, and my stomach feels heavy, like it is pulling on my skin when I’m up and moving around for a long time. I’m still going to the gym and walking a few miles every day on my commute to work, but somehow that exercise feel more comfortable than standing around in a dress and heels and trying to bounce around on the dance floor without shaking my baby too hard. Despite those slightly uncomfortable things, all three weddings were a blast.
Some of you might remember the dress drama I had in anticipation of all of these weddings – I spent forever searching for a great maternity dress to wear, then finally ordered one online, and then it arrived but I COULDN’T ZIP IT around my expanding rib cage, and even though it was final sale they ended up exchanging it for a bigger size, but then it was too big in the top for my little tatas and now I’ve spent a boatload on money on a dress I can’t wear. Sigh. I’m going to see if I can sell it on eBay or something (anyone want a gorgeous black silk maternity dress designed by Christian Siriano from Project Runway for $170?). Luckily, I have a wonderful friend who is about my size who is letting me borrow all of her maternity clothes, and she had a perfect dress for me to wear (for free).
So that’s how I’ve been covering my bump recently. I am beginning to wonder how I’m going to cover it over the next 10 weeks, though. Even my maternity clothes are getting snug. Yikes!

You look gorgeous! Glad the wedding month was fun. I hope the third trimester treats you well. I’m at 37.5 weeks and I can’t tell you how difficult the end is. It could be over tomorrow, it could be over in a month. I’m not good with that kind of uncertainty, especially not when everything is this difficult. Cherish the time you have now where you can sleep and eat and walk with less discomfort – sadly it only gets worse…
You look great! Cute dresses. I ran into the same problem; I gained a good 45 lbs! Yikes) Do you have Kohls out there? I found some good shirts and tanks there in their Jr. dept (size L), for VERY cheap (like $5 each). They are particularly long and stretchy, and if you don’t mind the snug look rather than the tented maternity look, they worked really well. They were cute to wear to work under a cardigan, etc. I think they worked so well b/c they are extra long….. good luck!
Even though you feel uncomfortable, you looked fantastic! Honestly. Beautiful! I’m still at that “just looking fat” phase so my bump can pop out annnnnny time now, please
We got our exciting gender news on Friday…
Nearing these hot summer months, my advice is to buy DRESSES. I bought a few and thought I was done wearing them, but now that I’ve actually delivered, it’s all I’ve wanted to put on because anything tight hurts around my waist and in the “delivery area.” Get the dresses…you’ll thank yourself during and after the pregnancy.
You look gorgeous!
You really are a beautiful pregnant woman!!! I love the dresses. It’s been really sad when I have outgrown certain maternity clothes and have to box them up already… No one told me you could outgrow those too!!!
I have been thinking about you hoping that you were well and not sick, thank goodness!!
You look absolutely stunning and radiant in every single one of those photos! Holy smokes!!
Do you feel like you’re going to burst soon? I do!
So pretty. I just found out I am pregnant (Yay!), so I will get to do some of this. My sister in law is gettin married in July so I will be about 12 weeks for that and then there is the beach vacation in August lol. I’m ready for a bump!
Kate, you are such a beautiful pregnant mom-to-be!! The dresses look fab on you!
I particularly love the first pic! I second the dress recommendation, I also found I was most comfortable in the summer (my two boys were born 8/30 and 9/18) with a pair of bike shorts underneath to avoid the thighs rubbing together discomfort. Skirts are great too.
Ahhhh, you are so cute! You look FABULOUS!
Looking good! How did that vodka go down?
I think it is totally acceptable in your last weeks of pregnancy to rotate between 3 or so outfits – nobody expects you to buy a new wardrobe with such a short life expectancy! Dresses are the way to go.
You look beautiful Kate!!
You looked so great at our wedding, and all the pictures are adorable.
Thank you so much, ladies! You’re too kind
Amber, Agreed! I thought maternity clothes would easily last me my whole pregnancy. Ummm, no. Even my cotton tank tops are feeling tight around the middle. Yikes.
Cate, CONGRATULATIONS!!! So exciting. You’ll definitely have a bump by your beach vacation — rock that bikini!
Nico, Right on. I had a little panic attack a few weeks ago when it was randomly very hot and I was wearing a dress and my thighs were rubbing together and I was so uncomfortable I felt like I was going to explode. One quick trip to Marshalls and a pair of $12, XXL “body smoothing” shorts solved all of my problems! I wear them every time I wear a dress now. Although they are INCREDIBLY unsexy, I am so comfortable I could cry tears of joy. It’s awesome.
Janelle, Ohhh a nice cold drink would taste pretty darn good right now
I’m sure you’re right about rotating fewer and fewer outfits as I grow out of them. Boring, but practical!
gorgeousness!!! love all of those photos! you look amazing. I’m at 37 weeks and my maternity clothes are definitely reaching their limits and I cannot justify buying anything *bigger* when I’m trying to vizualize finally getting *smaller*
Oh, I just LOVE that photo of you in the Old Navy sundress. So gorgeous.
This is a awesome write-up, im happy I came across this. Ill be back again later on to check out other posts that you have on your blog.
